You’re Not Responsible for Fixing Everyone

Yeah, I said it…

I’ve spent a lot of my life trying to ease the pain of others. Feeling everything deeply can be a gift, but it can also be exhausting. You sense when someone’s energy is heavy. You notice when something’s off before they even say it. And because you care, your instinct is to step in and help, sometimes before checking whether it’s really yours to fix.

Here’s the truth:

You can hold space for someone without holding their pain. You can care without carrying it.

When we take responsibility for everyone’s healing, we quietly teach ourselves that love equals rescuing. That way of living drains your energy, clouds your intuition, and leaves you wondering why you feel so tired after every conversation.

The desire to fix usually comes from a good place, a heart that remembers what it feels like to hurt. But real healing happens when we let others walk their own path. Sometimes the most loving thing we can do is stay steady in our own light and let them find theirs.

When you feel the pull to fix someone, pause and ask yourself:

  • Am I being invited to help, or am I stepping in out of discomfort?

  • Is this mine to carry, or am I absorbing what isn’t mine?

  • What would change if I trusted their ability to heal?

Releasing the need to fix doesn’t make you cold or detached. It brings you back into alignment with your true self. You are here to support, not to save.

If this resonates, take a few minutes today to reconnect with your own energy. Sit quietly, breathe, and imagine everything that isn’t yours sliding off like water. Feel what’s left. That is your true center, the place where your healing begins and your energy returns.

If you want guidance on coming back to your center or clearing energy you’ve picked up from others, I offer Reiki sessions that can help you reclaim your space and feel steady again.
