What to Expect in Your First Reiki Session
If you’ve never had a Reiki session before, it’s completely normal to feel a little bit of "the unknown" before you walk through my door. Most people who find their way to my studio in Lexington are navigating a season of life that feels a bit heavy or loud, and the last thing I want is for your healing session to feel like another thing you have to "figure out."
When you arrive at my space on Richmond Road, we start exactly where you are. There’s no pressure to have a perfect explanation for why you’re here. We’ll just sit for a moment and chat. I’ll ask what’s been on your mind and what you’re hoping to let go of during our hour together. Whether you’re looking for deep emotional clarity or just a rare moment of quiet, that conversation sets the container for everything that follows.
One of the most common things people ask is about the physical setup. You’ll stay fully clothed and get comfortable on a soft treatment table, supported by blankets and a bolster. My goal is for your body to feel so safe and supported that your nervous system finally gets the memo that it’s okay to stop "doing" and start "being."
During the Reiki itself, I use a very light touch or sometimes just hold my hands slightly above you. You might feel a gentle warmth, a bit of tingling, or, honestly, you might just feel a profound sense of relaxation that leads you right into a "Reiki nap." Both are perfect. There is no right way to feel, and you can’t do this wrong.
As the session ends, I’ll gently bring you back to the room. If we are doing a Signature Session, this is often when we talk through the insights that came up from your Akashic Records. It’s a grounded way to bridge the peaceful energy of the Reiki with the practical steps you might need for your life outside the studio.
You’ll leave with a little more space in your breath and hopefully a lot more clarity in your heart.
If you’ve been feeling the nudge to try this but weren't sure what the "rules" were, I hope this helps you feel a bit more at home with the idea. You’re always welcome to reach out with questions or book a time whenever you feel ready to land.
